4D Components

We are currently documenting our components so that they are ready for release.

If you would like to be updated when the documentation for any of the components is complete, please sign to our newsletter or our Twitter feed.

In the meantime, if you have any questions, please let us know and we will do our best to assist you.

Please let us know if you would like to use one of the components with the limited documentation, and we will work out something for you.

Preferences - PREF

Comprising of two parts, this component allows you to have a simple saving and retrieving data values tagged by a code, and gives a modern and professional interface to database preferences.

Data preferences

This component provides a set of routines to set and retrieve 4D data types. Each setting can be set and retrieved with a text handle to make management easy.

In addition, any handle can be used on its own for global values, or with a reference for filtering of the same type of preference. As an example, this reference can be used to set user specific over-rides for any preference.

This component requires a table to be added to the host database.

System preferences

The second part of the component allows you to display a preferences interface, inspired by the OSX System Preferences, categorising items with customisable icons, giving a rich and and flexible interface.

Features

  • Set and retrieve 4D data types as preferences, avoiding the need to add new fields
  • Filter preferences by user or any other chosen reference
  • Display a rich interface for the user to manage database preferences and settings
  • Fully customisable
  • Automatically will display any preferences screens from other Halare components
  • Add additional custom screens by adding one form and one method.
